The taste of Mariazell

For hundreds of years, the fragrant aromas of honey, spices and Lebkuchen have been just as intimately associated with the pilgrimage site of Mariazell as the basilica. Our business is dedicated to the traditional crafts of making Lebkuchen, mead and honey, passing down time-honoured recipes and processes from generation to generation. We make our unique Pirker Lebkuchen, tasty schnapps and liqueurs, and real beeswax candles the same way they have always been made.

Our philosophy

Our genuine love for our craft and joy in using the best ingredients define our daily work. And bees are at the heart of all we do. Not only do they provide us with fine honey for our Lebkuchen and distillery, but also with beeswax for making candles. You can discover our craftsmanship first-hand by visiting our one-of-a-kind, 3,500 square meter erLebzelterei show bakery in the centre of town.

Although our products have always enjoyed an outstanding reputation and have received many awards, we never rest on our laurels. We are always inventing new varieties of Lebkuchen and flavour combinations, and we are an unrivalled market leader in this area. We currently produce over 400 specialities by hand in our workshops, with the aid of state-of-the-art technology, while making sure we never lose sight of traditional craftsmanship.
